So far the best book about how evolution has shaped women's bodies. Chock full of interesting info.
The Sad Life of Conventional Dieters

There is no question that it's possible for some to lose weight on the diet food sold in the grocery store and touted in Women's magazine's like Self. Most women don't lose weight, but we all know at least one slim woman who eats an austere diet of whole grain cereals and low-fat yogurt, punctuated by coffee. Most of these women seem a little grumpy to me. Grub Street profiled one of them: Mika Brzezinki, host of Morning Joe. What does she eat? Not much, mostly things like Kind Bars (full of sugar), coffee, egg whites, and sad green salads without anything but greens. She is going to host a show called Cook Your Heart Out, which will feature "heart healthy" recipes. Let's bet on how disgusting and devoid of goodness these recipes will be?
Grub Street blog is a favorite of foodies, so the comments were not favorable.
Typical of such dieters, like Mimi Roth, Mika has plenty of hate for delicious food, as well as for people who don't fit her standards of thinness. According to the Village Voice:
She supports a tax on all red meat, and often makes comments about overweight people on Morning Joe: "All I want you to pay a little more so I don't have to pay for your big butts, okay?"
Yuck. Me? I'm working in a cafe, just had pastured pork belly with yuzu marmalade. You don't have to be miserable and eat horse chow to have a good relationship with food. Mika's probably a bit malnourished and you don't have to do that to have a healthy heart.

More craziness and some
More craziness and some skinny b*tch who is holier-than-thou like that is going to help people who are chronically obese. I took charge of my own health and am now wearing size 4 in jeans (although I suspect this is not quite the same size 4 of 20 years ago) and eating a helluva lot or red meat and whole fats. I don't like this whole tax you because you eat red meat... how about we tax you if you are stupid enought to eat soy, skim milk, and the favorite lunch of all time low fat yogurt? I have cut my dose (at my request) of BP med in half, and I hope to be off of it completely the next time. At least my doctor is in her 40's and will recommend low-carb South Beachish diet which is a big improvement over eat whole-grains all day long. I don't even eat fruit except like maybe once a month. If people are so dead set on what "healthy" really means then everyone wouldn't be huge. I feel sorry for kids now who are the product of two parents who didn't have parents who cooked and think it's ok to eat several meals as fast food themselves. Sure I was over the top on soda, etc as a kid, but at least it was real Pepsi and my my hit the ceiling over the amount of it and didn't let me do whatever I wanted. And she sure wouldn't have cooked separate meals to please anyone (except she knew we wouldn't eat liver and onions).
This chick's attitude pisses me off. People need help, not criticism from someone who has probably been on a diet since she was 9.

This is ridiculous! And i
This is ridiculous! And i could not agree with you more, eating like cows is not 1) healthy and 2) going to help you lose weight. It is true that you have to carefully watch your nutrition, making sure to have a balanced meal (and allow yourself to cheat every once in a while) but what this woman is saying is nuts. What about an active lifestyle? does she mention anything of that sort? Glad to see that at least you have this post to bring awareness to what some people call dieting and losing weight...Thanks for sharing!

Hey, what's not to love about anorexic and judgmental?
Sad thing is that Davis at
Sad thing is that Davis at heartscanblog is also very saturofat phobic just like this gal! This explains the lack of success for a lot of people following his low chol (max 200mg/day) diet. He advises max 20 grams sat fat daily.
I've tried to educate on saturated fat him on saturated fat (as has others). He is still a million light years away...
Getting rid of wheat is a big step but not enough for optimal hearts... our hearts are muscles that run on FAT.
Pork belly is always
Pork belly is always excellent, but what's yuzu marmalade?
I'd like her to pay more
I'd like her to pay more excise taxes so I don't have to pay for her inevitable decrepitude.
There are going to be so many
There are going to be so many things wrong with this. The food is going to be disgusting, and she will be a patronising b*tch. A must NOT see.
